WEF: As per the Global Competitiveness Index (GCI) Report 2016-17, released by
the World Economic Forum in September 2016, for the second year in a row, India
climbed 16vositions to occupy the 39th spot in the index. While it stood at
71th position out of the 144 nations ranked in 2014-15, in
2015-16 its ranking climbed to 55th spot. In 2016-17, it has again climbed 16
places to move to the 39th spot. The betterment of India's ranking marks an
improvement in competitiveness on several
fronts including efficiency in goods market, business sophistication, and innovation.
