175km rail line in Gujarat now a 'green corridor'

The railways on October 19, 2016 declared a 175km rail line in Gujarat a green corridor', which means there will be no human waste discharge on these tracks.

The stretch is part of railway minister Sureh Prabhu's plan to turn all tracks in the national transporter's network into green corridors, by fitting biotoilets in train coaches, by 2019. 29 trains, consisting of nearly 700 coaches, passing through the 141km-long Okha-Kanalus stretch and the 34km Porbandar-Wansjaliya section in Gujarat have been equipped with bio-toilets.
